Governance is a rapidly changing and responsive part of our School Trust. It is integral to the success of the Trust and the School.
Categories of Governor
Parent Governors: If you are a parent of a pupil(s) at the school or the primary carer, you can stand for election as one of the Parent Governor positions, (once a Parent Governor post becomes vacant). If more than one parent expresses an interest in filling a vacancy, elections are held in which all parents can vote.
Co – opted Governors: A Co – opted Governor is a person who in the opinion of the governing body, has the skills required to contribute to the effective governance and success of the school.
Staff Governor: A member of staff paid to work at the school and elected by the staff.
Headteacher: A member of the Governing Body by virtue of their office. If the Headteacher elects not to be a Governor then his/her place cannot be taken by anyone else.

Welcome Letter from the Chair
Hello and welcome to our website and our school. I’m Andrew Sargeant, the Chair of the Local Governing Board of Barton Moss CP and it gives me great pleasure as a Governor, to be able to support the education of our children.
Barton Moss Community Primary serves with pride, the families and community of the Brookhouse estate and local areas. We are a rapidly improving school, working hard for the best outcomes for our children. We also pride ourselves on our pupils’ behaviour and the protective and safe environment we provide for our children.
Our core values are a love of learning, emotional resilience, tolerance and respect and we give and expect 100%, every day from everybody. Our Head Teacher Mrs Anns, the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) the staff & Governors, all work very hard to ensure the best education for our pupils, and we all believe strongly that with all our help, our pupils can achieve anything.
Barton Moss, since September 2017 is also part of the Prestolee Multi Academy Trust (MAT). The Local Governing Board (LGB) Head Teacher, SLT and staff are working hard, with the staff and Directors of the MAT to improve our performance in the teaching, learning and caring for our children.
The LGB work to have a positive impact upon raising standards, be a critical friend of the school, to challenge and support, with particular focus upon pupil safeguarding, pupil outcomes and pupil resources. The LGB through its primary purpose of School Effectiveness, is responsible for the monitoring and self-evaluation of achievements and standards within, and the overall effectiveness of the school.
We also recognise that the parents/guardians are a very important part of the process of education and important stakeholders. We believe that working with families in partnership, gives our pupils the best chance of maximising their experiences, expectations and achievements. As Governors, we’re always keen to understand your points of view, so please do take any opportunity to talk to us, when you see us at school.
I hope you and your children feel part of the Barton Moss community, and that your children get the most out of and enjoy their time with us.
