Home Learning Year 3 Jan 2021

Dear Parents/Carers

As a school, it is our duty to ensure that we are still providing an education to those pupils who cannot come into school for reasons surrounding COVID-19. When considering how we can best support our pupils, we have looked at improving the quality of our existing offer and have also used feedback from the parent survey to inform our decisions. 

Remote lessons will be set to run alongside the lessons that have been planned by the class teacher who is delivering these from home/school. Your child will have access to home learning in a variety of ways.

We are using Showbie platform to deliver home learning resources, videos and lessons and a log in will be your child’s diaries.  If your child does not have access, we have laptops/I pads we can send home. Alternatively, your child can access the CGP books and paper packs. Also, if your child would like to do any extra learning, we have provided paper packs too. 

Children will need logins TT Rockstars, Spelling Shed, Purple mash, Showbie and Maths Flex.

Please upload photographs of your child completing their tasks on Showbie. 

Year 3

Week beginning 11th January Tasks

Monday 18th January 2021 

Day One 

9am - Reading. Please use this time to read various texts, books, magazines or online resources, practise a page in phonics books or read a book on Oxford Owl.

9.30am – 10.30am – Live lesson via Showbie linked to Maths. Children will need Power Maths Books and red exercise book or record directly on Showbie.

Learning Objective - To understand remainders when dividing

Activity - In this lesson, children will understand what is left when dividing is a remainder.

11.00am – 12.00pm – Live lesson via Showbie linked to English. Children will need to record in blue exercise books or directly on Showbie.

Learning Objective- To explore the thoughts and actions of a character.

Task – In this lesson, children will imagine a character from the text read (George’s Marvellous Medicine).

12- 1pm Lunch 

1pm - TT Rockstars 

1.15pm Spelling Shed 

1.30pm – 1.50pm – Live daily input on Showbie for afternoon tasks such as History  and Geography.

Learning Objective - To use a range of common words and phrases relating to Fairtrade.

Task – Fairtrade VIPERS / Fairtrade information leaflet

1.50pm - Independently complete the task set. 

2.45pm - Upload photographs, work and evidence to Showbie. 

 

Tuesday 19th January 2021 

Day Two

9am - Reading. Please use this time to read various texts, books, magazines or online resources, practise a page in phonics books or read a book on Oxford Owl.

Learning Objective - To calculate and write remainders in a division correctly

Task - In this lesson, children will write remainders formally

11.00am – 12.00pm – Live lesson via Showbie linked to English. Children will need to record in blue exercise books or directly on Showbie.

Learning Objective- To describe a character

Task -In this lesson, children will collect adjectives and use it in describing a character.

12- 1pm Lunch

Learning Objective - To identify and represent Fairtrade produce on a world map

Task: Where in the world does it come from? / Climate conditions to grow a banana.

Learning Objective- To write a summary of text read.

Task – Children will order the event in the text read using a story map.

Learning Objective- To write an instruction.

Task - Children will write using the learned structure for an instruction

Task - In this lesson, children will use patterns to calculate multiplication and division problems

Learning Objective- To write a report using text that has been read.

Task - Children will write a report as witnesses to an event (from reading a story).
